How to get to Kuopio

Arriving by airplane

Finnair operates flights between Helsinki and Kuopio. Kuopio airport is located in Toivala, about 16 kilometres from the city centre. 

To get to Kuopio, you can preorder a taxi via Taksi Ykköset before your arrival or use bus line 40 (see the bus schedule here).

There are also several car rentals available at the airport. Please check their opening hours and details from their website in advance, since some operate solely by reservation.

Arriving by train or bus

Train and bus connections to Kuopio are available from many Finnish cities. Taking the train from Helsinki to Kuopio takes approx. 4 hours.

The train station and central bus station are located in the city centre, approximately 1.6 km from the conference venue.
